The Centre will display a wide range of IT equipment that the education sector can consider for future implementation, and will concentrate on technologies that will;
- aid teachers in delivering educational outcomes,
- enhance students’ self- motivated learning.
“ Many educational establishments are finding that they need the opportunity to see, feel and generally understand educational IT equipment - before they feel able to justify its role in mainstream learning. Sometimes they need to do this years before they are in a position to add such technologies to their suite of learning tools.” said Gaia Technologies’ Managing Director, Anas Mawla.
Gaia Technologies works closely with 150 schools in Wales and several large educational establishments in England. This facility will allow the company to do what no other provider to the education market can do; provide a wide range of consultative support and allow comparisons of options and testing opportunities which will assist schools and colleges when they make key decisions.
The Centre will be open in early Spring 2009 and is believed to be the only known centre of its kind in the United Kingdom. Whilst The City Learning Colleges in England have some similarities, the New Innovations Centre will be a substantially larger concept with a significantly more extensive range of tools on display and will provide specialist attention to technologies that are only just beginning to be used in classroom situations - especially 3DVisualisation.
The facility will be available to existing Gaia educational clients from across Wales and England.
“ The creation of the Centre comes at the ideal time since the emerging learning agendas for post 14 age in both Wales and England will necessitate an unprecedented level of collaboration between education providers, together with the introduction of innovative learning methodologies.”
“Technology will be an essential element in delivering such agendas” added Mr Mawla.
