Greater Flexibility
Mobile PCs enable more computer usage through their deployment to different classes at different times. “Laptop trolley” configurations permit systems to be wheeled to appropriate classrooms, rather than moving the students to a fixed lab. Wireless local area networks (WLANs) are the key technology enabler.
Better Security
"Computers on a cart" configurations afford better security, because PCs can be locked up between classes or at night to prevent theft or vandalism.
Reduced Infrastructure Costs
WLANs eliminate the need to wire or renovate facilities with LAN cables, which saves on infrastructure costs. However, these savings are balanced against higher client-mobile PC costs and shorter life spans compared with desktops PCs.
Better Use of Space
Mobile PCs overcome space constraints because their smaller size allows more PCs to be deployed per bench.
